Rev. Edmund Laldin - Incumbent

Edmund Laldin emigrated to Canada 28 years ago from Pakistan.  He was ordained deacon in 1995 and priest in 1996.  Edmund has served on the lower north shore of Quebec and Western Newfoundland before moving to Winnipeg.  He had the privilege to serve the provincial and national church on many committees and a task force.  Edmund's is passionate about cultivating and nurturing a culture of inclusion and his research is primarily focused on contextual liturgy, relational preaching and church's relevance to post-modern society and millennials.

Rev. Ted Nimik - Honorary assistant

Ted Nimik was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At the age of 14 he joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers a unit of the Canadian Army Reserve. He advanced through the ranks receiving a commission as a Captain and then became Officer Commanding the Military Police Company of the 17th Service Battalion of the Royal Canadian Army.  Resigning his Commission in 1981. Ted also worked with the Canadian National Railway and then with the Winnipeg Police Service from 1953 to 1973. Rev. Ted is a 40 year Life Member of Branch #215 of the Royal Canadian Legion and has served as Command Chaplain for Manitoba and Northwestern  Ontario Command. 

Ted was accepted by St Johns College and was ordered as Deacon in May, 1977.  He worked in parishes in British Columbia and Alberta before returning to Winnipeg in 1990 where he served as Executive Director for the West Broadway Community Ministry for ten years. One year after making the decision to retire in 2000 he was asked if he would consider serving the Parishes of Hallock, Minnesota, Ridgeville and Emerson, Manitoba.  Ted and his wife Sandra have been married for 30 years and have 5 children. They have been at St. Saviour’s for 15 years.

Rev. deacon Michèle Barr - honorary deacon assistant & music director

Michele Barr was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  She started piano lessons at the age of 7, and started singing in church choir as a teenager.  She graduated from The University of Manitoba in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Organ and Level III Orff Certification. Michele taught preschool music in several core area and inner city daycares for 19 years, and has been active accompanying community and school choirs, and soloists.

Michele has previously held positions as organist and choir director at Faith Lutheran Church, Hope Lutheran Church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. Michele returned to university and graduated from University of Winnipeg in 2011 with a Masters in Theology, specializing in chaplaincy.

Michele was ordained as a Diaconal Minister of the ELCIC in 2010 and served as Chaplain at Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home from 2015-2019, and currently serves as Coordinator of Spiritual Care at Fred Douglas Lodge.   Michele is grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on several local and national committees of the ELCIC and ACC, as well as CASC (Canadian Association of Spiritual Care).

Michele is married to Dan, a musician and teacher in the Winnipeg School Division, and they have three grown children and two grandchildren….so far.

Michele joined the team at St. Saviour’s in 2018.
